By Joe Root Delivers Emotional Speech As Ben Stokes Retires From ODI: Former England captain Joe Root has given an emotional speech while reacting to the sudden retirement of his teammate and good friend Ben Stokes from ODI cricket. Ben Stokes recently announced his retirement from ODI cricket and played his last 50-over match against South Africa.
The current Test captain and star all-rounder said that he wants to play according to his body given the busy schedule, and for the time being, his focus is more on Test and T20I cricket.
Meanwhile, Joe Root shared his feelings about what was happening inside him and also talked about the importance of Ben Stokes’ match-winning performance for England. He also highlighted Stokes’ excellent batting and incredible fielding in the final of the World Cup 2019.

In a video posted by the ECB on Twitter, Joe Root said: “Obviously, I have a lot of emotions going up. As a friend, I have a lot going on at the moment. The performances of his entire career have come to the fore in my mind. Ben has achieved extraordinary things on the field. Everything was incredible in the 2019 World Cup final or other matches, half-centuries, centuries, bowling, fielding.

I think Ben Stokes has won the hearts of the entire nation and the public. He has attracted people who have never seen cricket before towards this game in the cricket field. We have been part of a team that has changed how many people across the world play limited overs cricket. Today kids and youngsters want to bat, bowl and field, and the credit goes to Ben Stokes.
