Netflix reveals what Indians watched the most this year

 

Netflix has revealed what Indians watched the most this year. The list includes films, TV shows, reality shows and kids shows. Netflix also highlighted that India has the highest viewing of films on Netflix globally. Over 80% of users in India have watched a film every week since last year.

This year, Raat Akeli Hai was the most popular thriller film in India on Netflix. Malang and The Old Guard were the most popular action films, while the recently released Ludo turned out to be the most popular comedy film. South Indian titles Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (Telugu), Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal (Tamil), Kappela (Malayalam), and Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya (Telugu) also featured in the top 10 films this year.

Netflix witnessed an increase of 250% in viewing of romantic films in India as compared to 2019. Love Aaj Kal, Ginny Weds Sunny and Mismatched were among the most popular romantic films and series in India. Netflix also highlighted titles with female leads including Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl which was the most popular drama film. Other titles like Guilty, Masaba Masaba, Bulbbul, She, Miss India and Never Have I Ever and Emily in Paris were among the most popular films and series in India.

It’s no secret that the Korean wave has hit the Indian shores even more this year. In fact, the viewing of K-dramas this year increased by 370% as compared to 2019. Netflix has been increasing its catalogue of K-dramas with titles such as The King: Eternal Monarch, Kingdom (S2), It’s Okay to Not Be Okay and Start-up becoming the most popular ones in India.

International favourites were Dark and Money Heist which stayed in the top 10 row for 95 days and 170 days, respectively. Anime was a big hit too with Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back-Evolution, Blood of Zeus and One-Punch Man (S2) as the most popular shows in India this year.
