IND vs ZIM: India Touring Zimbabwe! Its All About Boosting Revenue: The Indian team will tour Zimbabwe for a three-match ODI series next month. While the dates are yet to be announced officially, Cricbuzz reports that the three matches as part of the ICC One-Day Super League have been scheduled for August 18, 20 and 22, respectively.
The matches are essential for the home team as the series points will count towards qualifying in next year’s ODI World Cup. However, they are not as crucial for India as the hosts as Rohit Sharma’s team has prepared directly for the mega event to be held in October next year.
IND vs ZIM: India Is Scheduled To Tour Zimbabwe
The six ODIs against England and West Indies played back-to-back this month are not part of the Super League. Speaking to Cricbuzz, a Zimbabwe Cricket official said, “We are delighted to host India, and we look forward to a competitive and memorable series.” All matches will be played at the Harare Sports Club in the capital. The Indian team is expected to reach Harare on August 15.
This will be India’s first tour of Zimbabwe in six years. The last time the MS Dhoni-led Indian team played three ODIs and as many T20Is was in June-July 2016. There was no visit after that. There will be no T20 format games this time. It will be a good sign for the Zimbabwe team to play against a bigger group. This tour will also be better for Zimbabwe in terms of revenue. Revenue is always associated with the Indian team. However, more information is yet to come in this officially.
