As the number of coronavirus cases continues to increase at an alarming rate within the state, the central government has released official protocols for the prevention and clinical management of COVID-19 in mild and asymptomatic patients. These preventive and treatment measures listed Ayurvedic herbs and concoctions, sipping on warm turmeric milk, AYUSH protocol promotes the utilization of Ayurvedic herbs to battle COVID-19.

The Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) has been advocating the utilization of yoga, Ayurvedic herbs, and supplements as preventive measures against the novel coronavirus ever since COVID-19 started wreaking havoc across the country.

The protocol recommends the consumption of Ayurvedic supplements and herbs on the idea of the patient’s age, weight, and severity of the disease.

As per the National Clinical Management Protocol document released by the AYUSH ministry, the usage of Ashwagandha, Guduchi, Pippali, and Ayush-64 tablets can help in boosting the system of asymptomatic COVID-19 patients and even prevent the disease from turning severe.

The protocol document also lists Chyawanprasha or Rasayana Churna and doing yoga for post-COVID management and to stop the disease from impacting the lungs of the coronavirus patients.

Dietary measures also to be followed for efficient management of the disease.

In addition to the medicines and supplements, the protocol document also listed several other dietary measures to treat mild symptoms of the highly communicable disease and even managing post-COVID recovery.

These measures included sipping on warm turmeric milk, drinking kadha or concoction made from various herbs and spices, and steam inhalation with essential oil or ajwain. The AYUSH document also underlines the importance of general measures safeguarding the system, including sleeping for a minimum of six to eight hours and doing exercise for a minimum of thirty to forty-five minutes a day.
