All-rounder and power-hitter Sunil Narine was faraway from the playing XI of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for his or her clash versus Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Monday. Known for his batting pyrotechnics and spin bowling, Narine has been rusty with the bat but still kept things tight with the ball for the two-time champions within the ongoing IPL 2020 edition.
Taking cognisance of Narine’s dip in form, the KKR think factory opted to travel without him within the high-voltage clash against the Kohli-led RCB camp. Speaking at the toss on matchday 28 of the IPL 2020, KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik confirmed that Narine will play no role in tonight’s match against the three-time runners-up.
Announcing Narine’s replacement after losing the toss to RCB skipper Kohli, Karthik revealed that England star batsman Tom Banton are going to be making his IPL debut for the Kolkata Knight Riders at the famous at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium within the United Arab Emirates (UAE). KKR fans were quick to post hilarious tweets after the official handle of Kolkata giants confirmed that Narine has been snubbed by the selectors.
Speaking about Banton at the toss, skipper Karthik praised the premier England batsman and said that the KKR opener may be a ‘superstar’ within the making. “It’s important that the bowlers believe themselves, love it happened within the KXIP match where they dominated us for nearly 39 overs. Banton may be a special player, he’s somebody within the making, he replaces Sunil Narine,” Karthik said.
