Williamson ruled out, NZ announce stand-in captain for 2nd England Test
An elbow injury ruled out New Zealand captain Kane Williamson from the second Test against England starting on June 10 at Edgbaston. The New Zealand camp however is confident of their captain’s return for the World Test Championship final against India starting on June 18.
Left-handed opening batsman Tom Latham will lead New Zealand in the second Test against England in Williamson’s absence.
“It’s not an easy decision for Kane to have to miss a Test, but we think it’s the right one,” New Zealand coach Gary Stead said in a statement on Wednesday.
