UP Covid curfew likely to be relaxed from June; shopping malls, salons to stay closed

The partial coronavirus curfew in Uttar Pradesh, which was extended till May 31 owing to the rising Covid cases in the state, is likely to be relaxed from the first week of June, sources have told India Today TV. While several Covid-induced restrictions will be eased in Uttar Pradesh, the containment zones will remain closed.

According to the sources, grocery stores and shops selling vegetables and fruits will likely be allowed to open. Construction activities may also be allowed to function. Restaurants with 50 per cent capacity may also be allowed to operate in the state.

Shopping malls, film theatres, and salons may stay closed. All the public programmes — religious or political — will not be allowed to take place since they require people to gather at a place. Containment zones will stay shut.
