Thieves steal 300 vials of children’s vaccines thinking they were Covid doses

The police have registered a case against some unknown persons who broke into a health facility in Maharashtra’s Thane and stole 300 vials of different vaccines meant for children. The police believe that the thieves broke into the health centre to steal anti-Covid vaccines, particularly Covishield, as the vials the thieves made away with had Serum Institute of India’s stickers.

The thieves also stole the DVR of the CCTV camera and the monitor, leaving no visual evidence behind. The incident at the Ulhasnagar PHC came to light when the employees of Mangrul Primary Health Centre, Ulhasnagar, came to work.

The employees found vaccine vials scattered on the floor. The lock of the fridge, used to store vaccines, was broken, a report in Mid-Day quoted the staff as saying.
