By The Indian Divyang cricket team reached the final after defeating Sri Lanka in a thrilling match: Sri Lanka and Nepal were out of the Bangabandhu 4 Nation Physically Challenged Cricket Tournament after losing both the matches.
In the Bangabandhu 4 Nation Physically Challenged Cricket Tournament organized by the National Paralympic Committee of Bangladesh at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujeeb Ur Rahman, today Indian Cricket Team for the Physically Challenged won their second league match against Sri Lanka and enter to the finals.
Earlier, Bangladesh also made it to the finals after beating Sri Lanka and Nepal.
Today Sri Lanka’s Divyang Cricket Team Captain Weerasinghe won the toss and decided to bat first. The decision was great. Sri Lanka’s opening batsmen got off to a great start adding 50 runs in the first 4 overs, but their run rate stopped before the Indian bowling. Despite that, the Sri Lankan team made a strong target of 164 runs in 20 overs for the Indian team. Sanjeeva’s 54, Udara Indrajit’s 41, Tanendaru 27, Udayakumar 12 contributed the most. Ghulamdin and captain Kailash Prasad took two wickets each and vice-captain Chirag Gandhi took one wicket and one player was run out.
In response, the start of the Indian team was very slow. Scored just 18 runs in the first 5 overs. After that gradually started increasing the run speed and in the end, the Indian Cricket Team for the Physically Challenged won this exciting match by eight wickets on the last ball of the 19th over. In this victory of the Indian cricket team, MS Shiva scored 79 not out in 47 balls with the help of seven fours and four sixes. Sanjeeva and Udara took one wicket each for Sri Lanka Divyang cricket team. Man of the match was awarded to MS Shiva. Haroon Rasheed, Secretary-General, Divyang Cricket Control Board of India said that the Indian cricket team had a match and with reaching the final match, it has been ensured that the Indian Cricket Team for the Physically Challenged will now play its 100th match, which is a big achievement.
