IPL 2021-MI vs RR Preview, Probable Playing XI, Live Streaming, Dream11 Prediction, Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals Squads: Defending champions Mumbai Indians will look to overcome their weaknesses of the middle order in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match to be held against the Rajasthan Royals here on Thursday.
Mumbai will enter this match after losing two consecutive matches. In the previous match, they had suffered a nine-wicket defeat at the hands of the Punjab Kings and now they would like to start afresh in the Delhi phase.
Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan has lost three matches in the tournament so far and will look to replicate the six-wicket win against Kolkata Knight Riders in the previous match.
Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma (201 runs) has started well but he has not played a big inning so far. The Mumbai batsman and his opening partner Quinton Dickock will both commit to playing big innings.
Mumbai’s biggest concern is its middle order which is not performing as a unit. His middle order includes Suryakumar Yadav (154 runs), Ishan Kishan (73 runs), Hardik Pandya (36 runs), Krunal Pandya (29 runs), and Kieron Pollard (65 runs).
Mumbai Indians Bowling power zone:
In the bowling department, fast bowlers Trent Boult (six wickets) and Jasprit Bumrah (four wickets) have bowled very well especially in the death overs. Leg-spinners Rahul Chahar (nine wickets) and Krunal (three wickets) have also bowled impressively and it is expected that they will get the pitch of Ferozeshah Kotla.
Pollard is being used as the fifth or sixth bowler while Hardik is playing as a pure batsman.
On the other hand, Rajasthan has to deal with many cases. The team has been weakened especially due to the withdrawal of foreign players Joffra Archer, Ben Stokes, Liam Livingstone, and Andrew Tye due to various reasons.
The Royals are yet to decide the opening pair. Manan Vohra (42 runs) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (22 runs) have failed to play big innings.
England’s Jose Butler also needs to play big innings while captain Samson (187) will have to maintain consistency in his performance. Shivam Dubey, David Miller, and Ryan Parag will also have to contribute significantly.
All-rounder Chris Maurice (9 wickets and 48 runs) will again be under pressure to prove his great value.
Left-arm fast bowler Chetan Sakaria (seven wickets) has played an important role in the bowling, while Jaydev Unadkat (four wickets) and Mustafizur Rahman (four wickets) have also done well. Apart from these three left-arm fast bowlers, Maurice will also have to maintain consistency in his performance.
Leg-spinner Rahul Tewatia has taken only one wicket in five matches while another leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal has not been able to take any wickets in two matches.
