By Breaking News : Centre asks states to declare black fungus as epidemic, report every case.
The Center has asked the states to notify mucormycosis i.e. Black Fungus under the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897. The Union Ministry of Health (Mohfw) has urged the states to make Mucor Mycosis a notified disease under the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897. States have been asked to report all cases.
This means that all confirmed or suspected cases of Black Fungus will have to be reported to the Health Ministry. In a letter written to the states, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Love Agarwal said, “All government and private health services and medical colleges have to follow the guidelines of ICMR and Mohfw for screening, diagnosis, management of black fungus.”
