Capt Amarinder Singh hints at exemplary action, says all eyes on Punjab

At a Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting held here on Sunday, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh is reported to possess hinted at “exemplary” action during the Punjab Assembly session that begins on Monday. Sources said the Congress MLAs told the CM that it had been imperative to require on the Modi government on the new farm laws, regardless of the results .
They were unanimous in their opinion that the minimum support price (MSP) and ‘mandi’ system must be protected in the least costs and therefore the “unconstitutional laws, which were against federalism” had to be countered.
“This fight will continue . we’ll fight this till the Supreme Court,” Capt Amarinder is reported to possess told the MLAs.
“The Centre may ‘dismiss’ the Congress government if it wants, but we’ll do everything possible to guard the farmers,” state Congress chief Sunil Jakhar said after the meeting.
The Council of Ministers, which met after the CLP meeting, authorised the Chief Minister to require any legislative/ legal decision that he deemed fit protect the farmers’ interests. Stressing that the “whole world is watching Punjab with tons of expectations”, the Chief Minister sought the opinion of his ministers also as MLAs on a draft legislation to be tabled on the second day of the session which might be extended till Wednesday (October 21).
A decision during this regard would be made at a Business Advisory board meeting on Monday.
