My Parents Hated It When I Played Cricket- Haris Rauf: Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf said that his parents did not want him to play cricket when he was young. Rauf said that he used to play tape ball cricket without informing anyone. Haris Rauf told in The Grade Cricketer YouTube channel on Tuesday (July 19) that many Pakistani parents do not allow their children to play any sport.

He said, ‘All players in Pakistan start cricket with a tape ball. I, too, began with a tape ball. I have played a lot of tape ball cricket in the streets and the fields. Most parents in Pakistan forbid their children to play cricket or any sport. My parents also forbade me to play cricket in the beginning. But I used to go to different cities and play tape ball cricket without informing anyone.

In 2017, the coaching staff of Lahore Qalandars saw Haris Rauf’s excellent bowling during the open trial, and he was delighted. Since then, Haris Rauf has bowled well in the PSL and international cricket, taking the wickets of all the legendary cricketers.

Haris Rauf told how the selectors of Lahore Qalandars, seeing his fast bowling, looked at the speed gun several times carefully to see if it was spoiled. However, the franchise included him in their team when he bowled at a speed of 92.3 MPH.

Rauf said, ‘In 2017, I went to the trial of Lahore Qalandars. Till then, I didn’t know that I bowl so fast. In the last round, I bowled the first ball at 88 MPH and the second ball at 90 MPH. He started looking at the speed gun to see if it was terrible. They told me to bowl one more ball, and I bowled the last at 92.3 MPH, after which they included me in the team. Haris Rauf has taken 23 wickets in 13 ODIs while 42 wickets in 35 T20 matches.
